My Dad, Albert Edward Wardill was born on the 28th December 1919 in Bridlington, East Yorkshire. He was a quiet man who always had a twinkle in his eye. He used to try not to laugh when i was playing up or messing about but all i had to say to him was " I know your going to laugh cos i can see your eyebrows twitching" that always did it and he'd start laughing at me.
Dad joined the Merchant Navy and in 1945 married my Mum, Doreen Coggin, a girl from Kingston upon Hull. Dad was a chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy. One time the engine room caught fire and Dad was in a hospital in Bombay suffering burns all over his body, for almost 7 months.
Dad left the Merchant Navy in 1969 and started to work at Fenners a factory that made belts for machinery. In 1970 he left there and both He & Mum worked together in the sweet shop they had bought.
In 1972 they bought a newsagents and worked together until retirement. Sadly in 1985 Dad started acting strangely and was diagnosed with Altzheimers Disease and later on diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.
