Albert Edward Wardill 1919-1988

My Dad, Albert Edward Wardill was born on the 28th December 1919 in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
He was a quiet man who always had a twinkle in his eye. He used to try not to laugh when i was playing up or messing about but all i had to say to him was " I know your going to laugh cos i can see your eyebrows twitching" that always did it and he'd start laughing at me.

Dad joined the Merchant Navy and in 1945 married my Mum, Doreen Coggin, a girl from Kingston upon Hull.
Dad was a chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy. One time the engine room caught fire and Dad was in a hospital in Bombay suffering burns all over his body, for almost 7 months.

Dad left the Merchant Navy in 1969 and started to work at Fenners a factory that made belts for machinery. In 1970 he left there and both He & Mum worked together in the sweet shop they had bought.

In 1972 they bought a newsagents and worked together until retirement.
Sadly in 1985 Dad started acting strangely and was diagnosed with Altzheimers Disease and later on diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.

Dad died on 7th January 1988.
