Thomas Wardill 1887-1952 and Mary Ellen Atkinson 1893-1979

The Priory Church in Bridlington

Well here’s something I never noticed until now.. Seems like my paternal grand-parents “HAD” to get married as my Dad was born 8 months after their wedding.. There’s a thing. Of course he could well have been premature.
Tom is one of eleven children.

Anyway Thomas Wardill married Mary Ellen Atkinson on the 3rd April 1919 at The Priory Church in Bridlington, East Yorkshire.

Thomas was born in November 1887 in Bridlington and died on the 22nd December 1952 in Bridlington.

He was in the Australian Army then on leaving he became a painter & decorater, he was a painter before joining the army too.

Mary Ellen was born in December 1893 in Scarborough, East Yorkshire she died in Driffield hospital , East Yorkshire on 15th June 1979.

They are buried together in Bridlington Cemetery.

Tom joined the Australian Army on the 19th January 1916.

Grandad was only 5ft 3 1/2 inches tall when he joined the army, I'm 5ft 6 and though i was short.
